Dining Out: Solaria

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Tonight I went out with two of my friends to the mall close to my house, Pejaten Village. The main purpose was to see “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, but since we were early, after some strolling in the department store, we parked ourselves at Solaria to grab a bite. Image062

As always I was having a bit of a problem choosing my dinner menu – because basically I love everything and although I limit my choice based on health related recommendations I read here and there, it still leaves me with (too) many options to choose from! But in the end I chose a menu I haven’t had for a long time: kwetiau goreng ayam or fried (flat) noodles with chicken.

It turns out to be a bad choice. Not taste wise, because it did taste ok, but whoever fried it used just too much oil so that it was so greasy and in the end left my tummy feeling slightly bloated. Can you see it shine ever so brightly thanks to the oil? :P

My Sister’s Birthday Lunch

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

It is my sister’s birthday today so my hubby and I wanted to take her and our parents out for lunch. We originally wanted to go to Cafe Wien, an Austrian cafe located in Plaza Semanggi because my sis wanted to have apfel strudel. Unfortunately it turned out that they have closed and now in replacement of it stands the fast food joint Burger King.

My dad and hubby opted for chicken cordon bleu while my sister opted for chicken mozzarella. I chose a more Asian taste, and picked chicken katsu with noodles in teriyaki sauce. Mine turned out to be the best choices, because apparently the two other chicken menu did not taste much. The chicken was well-seasoned, and then of course the noodles took on the taste of the teriyaki sauce. It was served with a small bowl of broth.

Of course since it was an Indonesian restaurant, they did not serve any apfel strudel so my sis will just have to wait for the next opportunity. :P
