Beef Patties with Tomato Spice Butter

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

It’s high time to share another recipe that I have tried out. One of my favourite recipe collection is the Periplus Mini Cookbooks series. This one is taken from the Tasty Mince Recipes. It looked like it was easy to make, and I have always liked making food from minced meat, because it can be turned into so many different dishes. So here is the recipe:

Lamb curry

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I decided to take up my culinary experience up a notch. If I usually make delicious difficult-to-prepare food (such as Indonesian food) with the help of some ready made spice mixture, this time I decided to make things from scratch. Or sort of. The menu for today: lamb curry.

Lamb Chops on Sautéed Peppers and Onions with Garlic and Mint Basmati Rice

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Remember in my review of 2009 I mentioned that I have this thing where I prefer my recipe books to have pictures? Well in that post I also promised myself that I would try more recipes from the books I have collected over the years.

And the first time I fulfilled this promise was by trying out a recipe from Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats – yes, the book with too few pictures – and I was really happy with the outcome. Not only did I get a very delicious meal out of it, I also got a picture of it :D which I will print and staple on the recipe page :P

Dining Out: Fried Rice and Hainan Duck Rice at Eaton

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Last Thursday, we had to stop by at a hyper mart to buy a big bin for our household waste. Due to the typical traffic in Jakarta, we arrived at Pejaten Village a wee bit late, so we were hungry by the time we got out of the car. So we decided to have our dinner there and then. (more…)

Dining Out: Salmon Fried Rice and Chicken Mushroom Pasta

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Today we went out to Gourmet Garage again in Kemang, as we needed to do some shopping anyway. We tried out some new dishes at their restaurant. My hubby chose the salmon fried rice and I picked the chicken mushroom pasta. Actually, I am not quite sure what the name of my dish was, but basically it had chicken and mushroom with pasta in creamy sauce. If you want to try it out, just look out for the menu description (obviously).

The salmon fried rice was served with some salad and also chilli in soy sauce. My hubby, being a bule with sensitive stomach, he skipped the chilli in soy sauce of course. But I enjoyed it very much although I could only take some two spoons to try out the dish. It tasted like a typical Chinese fried rice actually, which gives this slight smell of burnt rice (in a good way) but does not taste burnt at all. The salmon was a nice touch – it was the first fried rice ever with salmon that I tasted. In fact, it’s the first time I found this type of dish in any restaurant.

As for my dish, it was very tasty as well, but unfortunately since it was served with cream sauce, it was quite heavy. Hence I could not finish the whole dish, but they were kind enough to pack away the rest into a doggy bag. And this time, it was not for Sam, but for my lunch the next day.
