Dinner Tonight: Pasta with Tuna Capers

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Tonight, the menu is pasta (my choice is spaghetti) with tuna and capers sauce. It’s very easy, it took me only 20 minutes to cook it altogether. Chopped onions and garlic is fried for a few minutes until tender and fragrant, then tuna chunks is mixed in (I used tuna chunks in oil – make sure you drain it properly otherwise you will end up with a very greasy dish), together with cream (I used light cream), lemon juice, capers and parsley. The time it took for me to prepare the sauce was the exact time it took for me to cook the pasta. It fits into my weekday menu criteria: quick, easy and delicious. And I have three satisfied customer: my hubby, my visiting friend (yes people are now flying all the way from Yogyakarta to have a taste of my cooking!) and my little birthday pup, Sam. :D

Dinner Tonight: Spaghetti with Smoked Salmon

Did I tell you I love cooking?

Well, tonight it was not so much cooking than to stir pre-cooked things together like tossing a salad. The menu for tonight was pretty easy, and it was also convenient since my hubby and I arrived a tad late at home and didn’t feel like standing too long in the kitchen to prepare our food. I took this menu from a recipe booklet titled ‘Fast Pasta’ published by Periplus and it was delish. It consisted of pasta of any kind – the recipe called for tagliatelle but I opted for spaghetti – tossed with smoked salmon, finely chopped dill, capers and lemon juice, which were mixed before with pre-melted butter. The taste of smoked salmon was dominant of course (also because I used more than prescribed) but the capers gave it a nice tangy taste (I used capers in vinegar).

I made a little too much as usual, so my food-happy hubby could indulge himself and Sam was then also a happy little pup.
