I was still in Haiti and was on a completely different diet: the ‘seefood’ diet (I see food and I eat it).

Grilled Savoury Chicken

I was still living with hubby in Jakarta when I suddenly craved for Javanese fried chicken (ayam goreng Jawa). I wanted to make it myself but I knew the amount of labour it requires, plus I really did not want to have to fry it (I hate frying chicken, it tends to attack me with hot oil). So I did a little research and found two recipes that I could combine: Ayam Goreng Gurih and Grilled Turmeric Chicken.

Banana Bread Pudding

So you’re single and your ambition to lead a healthy life has left you with too much bananas left over that you think are going to go bad tomorrow. You can’t give it away to anyone because you’re such a busy bee and are not on food sharing basis with your neighbours yet. (Yeah I know this is an extreme condition but just bear with me for now). Guess what, if you have coconut milk, palm sugar, pandan leaves, bread and eggs, (and raisins, if you like) you don’t have to throw away the bananas – you can make banana bread pudding instead!

Chicken Parmigiana

It was one of those days that I couldn’t figure out what to cook. I looked through my fridge to see what I have, and I found some chicken and some leftover parmesan cheese which I can’t remember what I had it for. Automatically my head put those two together and and decided to look up for recipes calling for those two ingredients. For some reason I must have looked up the words ‘chicken parmigiana’ because on the first page of the search result, I found this recipe by Ree Drummond.

Beef Patties with Tomato Spice Butter
