Banana Bread Pudding

So you’re single and your ambition to lead a healthy life has left you with too much bananas left over that you think are going to go bad tomorrow. You can’t give it away to anyone because you’re such a busy bee and are not on food sharing basis with your neighbours yet. (Yeah I know this is an extreme condition but just bear with me for now). Guess what, if you have coconut milk, palm sugar, pandan leaves, bread and eggs, (and raisins, if you like) you don’t have to throw away the bananas – you can make banana bread pudding instead!

Harvest Cake from the US

It was the morning of my birthday when I got a phone call from Harvest cake shop asking me to describe how to get to my home. A few moments later, a delivery person arrived, bringing the most awesome package I have ever received, with a note attached “Happy birthday Hesti! Love, the Scotts”

Poulet en Sauce / Poulet Basquaise

Ok so after a long while of settling in, getting a job (although only locally contracted), learning the ropes, and some procrastination, here is my first post (and so far the only one) about my food adventures in Haiti. A new expatriate staff arrived one day at the end of September so hubby and I took him to a hotel which was supposed to be quite popular and interesting. It’s the Oloffson hotel in the center of Port-au-Prince.

(Giant) Dinner at Hodde Kro

We were back home in Varde, Denmark and one day we decided to have one of those traditional meal experience from the good old days – or so my hubby calls it. So we took out his son and the son’s girlfriend out for dinner at Hodde Kro. A ‘kro’ is an old style restaurant serving traditional food where they also usually have rooms for rent (like an inn).

Casablanca Restaurant in Grenaa

During our road trip in Denmark, we had dinner at a small cosy Italian restaurant, Casablanca. It was located by the waterfront in Grenå, right across the Kattegatcentret. It was a nice area, although I must tell you I could be biased because in my opinion, anything near water is nice :D
