Harvest Cake from the US

It was the morning of my birthday when I got a phone call from Harvest cake shop asking me to describe how to get to my home. A few moments later, a delivery person arrived, bringing the most awesome package I have ever received, with a note attached “Happy birthday Hesti! Love, the Scotts”

My Time in Haiti

What can I possibly say to apologize for having neglected my blog? Nothing really. They will all sound like cheap excuses to my own ear. So I will just pretend that there has not been any long gap between this post and the last. Hope you can do the same! ;)

As you know, mid September I moved to Haiti with my hubby. His work has taken him there and as a supportive wife (at least supportive for three months or so) I followed suit.

Poulet en Sauce / Poulet Basquaise

Ok so after a long while of settling in, getting a job (although only locally contracted), learning the ropes, and some procrastination, here is my first post (and so far the only one) about my food adventures in Haiti. A new expatriate staff arrived one day at the end of September so hubby and I took him to a hotel which was supposed to be quite popular and interesting. It’s the Oloffson hotel in the center of Port-au-Prince.

We Have Moved!

Well, my last post was about a month ago, and that was when my hubby came back from Port-au-Prince, Haiti from the job that he has recently accepted. We have since been busy with our move, packing, getting vaccinations done and whatnot. We left Indonesia on 15th September and after 40 hours of travel from door to door (29 hours and 35 minutes of flying time), we arrived in Port-au-Prince.

(Giant) Dinner at Hodde Kro

We were back home in Varde, Denmark and one day we decided to have one of those traditional meal experience from the good old days – or so my hubby calls it. So we took out his son and the son’s girlfriend out for dinner at Hodde Kro. A ‘kro’ is an old style restaurant serving traditional food where they also usually have rooms for rent (like an inn).
