About Me
I am just an ordinary person who likes to travel. Way back when I was younger and my father was working in Germany, we had plenty of chances to travel around. I liked it a lot, except sometimes for the flights as I used to get very sick (thank God I don’t get sick on flights anymore). Luckily we very often travelled by other means of transportation, such as car or train, and that would be very much ok.
The best thing about traveling with my parents at that time was the food adventure. I was always looking forward to the lunch or dinner stops. I just love (good) food. Back then, I used to be very picky when it comes to food, it drove my mom crazy. My excuse back then was that I was a feinschmecker – a term in German which means gourmet… hahaha… – which of course at that time was so not true. The funny thing is when we traveled I would not need be very picky because of course I get to choose what I eat!
At my currently more mature age, my childhood excuse of being a ‘gourmet’ turns out to be partly true now! Only partly though, because it doesn’t really take much for me to like a dish. To me there are generally only two categories of food: ‘enak’ (delicious) and ‘enak banget’ (very delicious). On a bad food-day, which is very rare, maybe I would be able to label some food as not worthy of the eating effort.
Additionally, I still love the travelling bit – and the culinary adventure would still be my favourite part. Now that I am also married to someone with a thousand legs (kaki seribu, a term in Indonesian language used to describe someone who loves going places), plus I work for an organization which also has some travelling demands, I can again indulge in my two favourite things in life.
