Dinner at City Kroen, Copenhagen
During that one week super quick visit to Denmark, we wanted to squeeze in a dinner date with hubby’s son and his girlfriend. Since the training ended on a Friday, my hubby and I drove to Malmö as we planned to spend the last two nights of our visit at his daughter’s. On Saturday night, we drove back to Copenhagen to meet up with hubby’s son.
At first we went to an Irish pub for some drinks because we met up a bit too early for dinner. I had a La Mumba, which is hot chocolate with brandy. I gotta say, I love hot chocolate, and I must protest that someone even thought about ‘ruining’ the warm fuzzy feeling of drinking hot chocolate by adding brandy to it.
But anyways… after we finished our drinks, we moved on to find something to eat.
My hubby and I remembered this place called City Kroen, located at Nørregade 36, where we once enjoyed a dish called ‘City Kroens gryderet’ which is beef, bacon, cocktail sausages and mushrooms cooked in some sort of creamy tomato goulash-like sauce. And that dish was so full of yummy factors that we both decided to give it another try. Well at least I did. Peder opted for a different dish: pan fried rødspætte (sole fish) with boiled potatoes and parsley cream sauce. The serving was seriously generous and I couldn’t finish my fries, but hubby on the other hand ordered a huge dessert: pancakes with ice cream (well, I did help him finish that dessert a little bit
). The plain ice cream was the son’s and girlfriend’s shared dessert. But bottom line: the food was excellent and homey, none of the non-sense fancy-schmancy restaurant presentation.
