Coffee and Cassava at Kafe Toraja
My hubby and I have known each other since early 2005 when we met at endless tsunami meetings, as well as through my often hostile visits to his office to sort out his visa issues. We finally got married in October 2008 after knowing each other for more than three years. Still, after such time, it’s amazing how many new things we still learn about each other over time.
One new thing that he just recently learned about me was the fact that I LOVE fried cassavas! He only found out a few days ago, when he and I went to have coffee at Pasaraya’s Kafe Toraja. I ordered the Toraja coffee (I have always loved it) and also asked for fried cassava. The fact that I ordered it wasn’t really the clue that gave away my love for cassavas.
The cassavas came in a small basket and I devoured them instantly, leaving only two pieces for him to taste and two more leftovers which I wrapped in a tissue and put in my handbag. Yep – that was the clue, and yeah, call me kampungan and see if I care.
But I wasn’t going to leave those babies behind, and from the look of it, the coffee shop didn’t really handle take-outs. I just couldn’t help it, the cassavas were very crispy and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. It was very tasty, because I think they boiled them in garlic and salt first before they fried them.
The Toraja (plain black) coffee was… ummm I don’t have any superlatives to describe coffee… so I am just going to say, strong yet mild, and very fragrant. Loved it. It’s good to know there is one coffee shop where one can get traditional and plain coffee as well as traditional snacks like fried cassavas. I am definitely coming back here when shopping in Pasaraya.

nyammmm….
lagi musim ujan gini emang enak banget sama kopi…
di Bandung banyak dijual singkong keju…euuuhhh enak bangetttt….
