Lunch at Marché, Plaza Senayan
For a few times now, whenever my hubby and I go to Plaza Senayan for a movie, we have noticed this market restaurant Marché, so this time we decided to try it out. As the name says, this restaurant uses a market concept where you go from one stall to another and pick your own food. They will give you a card at the entrance, which the stall’s staff will stamp with a code corresponding to your order. You will then pay at the exit. I thought it was quite fun!
I started with goulash soup, one of my favourite soup of all time. We’ve had this so many times when we were in Germany, and it has been quite a while since I have had it. So I was very much looking forward to it. It was ok, although I didn’t remember that goulash was supposed to taste sour. Maybe a bit tangy but not sour. Or maybe I didn’t remember well.
For the main course, I tried out the roast beef, minus potatoes, because I wanted to have some Rösti instead. Rösti is one of my favourite potato dish I grew up with when in Germany, so when I found out they had it, there was no chance that I would pass on that. As you can see from the picture, the roast beef looked really good, because it was medium-well done. Unfortunately the taste was concentrated only on the outer part of the meat, while the mid part didn’t taste much. Maybe it could have used a bit more marinating time. The Rösti was good, although I think it would have been better if it was a bit thinner and cooked a bit longer to have that crispy taste. But that’s just a personal preference.
The verdict? I wouldn’t mind coming back here. I admit it’s a bit pricey, but just to experience the nostalgia of (Swiss-)German food would be enough for me to come back, plus I kind of liked the ambience.

Oh yum! Looks absolutely delicious! Marche isn’t really popular here…boy I miss Jakarta
Hi Rita! Well then come back to Jakarta for some holidays later in the year. Not now tho, it’s raining every day! Welcome to my blog and thanks for the comment.
Enjoy your stay and come back often
Dear Avigayil,
thank you very much for your visit and Feedback.
I’m sorry if not all of our dishes where to your liking; we will discuss this with our Team and improve the quality.
If you like your dishes prepared in a special way, please don’t hesitate to ask our Team member to cook it to your liking.
We are always happy to follow our guest requests and have them satisfied with our dishes and we cook it to your liking.
The reason that some of the items are a little bit more expensive is due to the fact that we use mostly organic and untreated products; to serve our Guest the most healthy and best quality Products available.
You are right that a goulash soup should not taste sour, I’m not sure what happened, we taste our own products several times throughout the day to assure the best quality.
I’m sorry that this was not the case on your try.
Please accept our apologies and we would like to invite you and your hubby for a free soup next time.
Just ask for the MOD and mention my name.
We are looking forward to your next visit and will make it more worth while.
with fresh regards

Well Pak, thank you for your visit to my blog and caring for what people think. Firstly, allow me to reiterate that there is nothing to apologize for! I did say I would come back, right? So that would mean the food is not bad at all. And yes, thank you for your reminder that the food can be cooked to our liking, which we actually did the second time around (I did order a thinner Rösti) and it was everything I had imagined it to be!
Dear Avigayil,
thanks so much for coming again and try it out.
I’m happy that it was to your liking; do you have any food items or craving for some dishes you might know from your trips to Europe then please share with us your Feedback on our Page in Facebook.
