Lontong Sayur Medan
When I still worked in Gatot Subroto area, my colleagues and I used to have lunch either at the nearby small street restaurants, or at the next door building’s food court. Very often, the building next door would also host a national food festival, where many restaurants would take part and serve their specials. My colleagues and I would normally not pass on the opportunity to indulge ourselves in the variety of meals presented.
This picture is taken from one of the menu which I ordered, lontong sayur Medan or Medan’s rice cakes with vegetables (in coconut milk). This mouth watering dish consists of rice cake or lontong (rice steamed in banana leaves), chicken in coconut milk, balado teri kacang tempe (fried anchovies, peanuts and soybean cake in chilli sauce), chayote and green beans in coconut milk, and of course the chilli sauce itself. Doesn’t it look delicious?
Unfortunately, I failed to note down the name of the restaurant serving this dish. I will try to get the details of it later if they participate in another food festival.
