Dining Out: Fried Rice and Hainan Duck Rice at Eaton
Last Thursday, we had to stop by at a hyper mart to buy a big bin for our household waste. Due to the typical traffic in Jakarta, we arrived at Pejaten Village a wee bit late, so we were hungry by the time we got out of the car. So we decided to have our dinner there and then.
Since the mall had not been officially opened, the number of stores and restaurants were limited. They had the famous food chain Solaria, which I have written about a few times, particularly the one in Pejaten Village and the one in Plaza Semanggi. My hubby is a bit picky when it comes to choosing restaurants because he doesn’t like just any food. So we walked around a bit, and ended up at Eaton.
My hubby ordered Chinese fried rice, while I ordered Hainan duck rice. Even though I
don’t really fancy duck but I really like the Hainan rice, so I gave it a try. The duck was as expected but the sauce they served it with was really nice and it made the duck taste so much better! The Chinese fried rice was also very yummy (yep I was allowed to taste one spoonful). I love how Chinese fried rice typically smells as if it is burnt (but does not taste burnt) because they cook it very fast on high heat. This one did too, and it was very rich in taste that made me wish I had ordered it instead.
We also got complimentary strawberry cake, and although I don’t like strawberry flavored food (unless it’s using real, fresh strawberries), this one did not taste bad at all. The fact that I only ate half of it was not indicative of the taste but more indicative of the fullness of my stomach.
