Dinner Tonight: Pasta with Tuna Capers

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Tonight, the menu is pasta (my choice is spaghetti) with tuna and capers sauce. It’s very easy, it took me only 20 minutes to cook it altogether. Chopped onions and garlic is fried for a few minutes until tender and fragrant, then tuna chunks is mixed in (I used tuna chunks in oil – make sure you drain it properly otherwise you will end up with a very greasy dish), together with cream (I used light cream), lemon juice, capers and parsley. The time it took for me to prepare the sauce was the exact time it took for me to cook the pasta. It fits into my weekday menu criteria: quick, easy and delicious. And I have three satisfied customer: my hubby, my visiting friend (yes people are now flying all the way from Yogyakarta to have a taste of my cooking!) and my little birthday pup, Sam. :D

Sam

Image057 This is Sam, my golden retriever. He actually just turned 3 this very day. Happy birthday baby!

I can’t believe I have had him for this long. I got him as a birthday present in 2006, and that time he was barely 2 months old. I also can’t believe he has reached a point where he can no longer grow any bigger. I was actually hoping he would because I just love big dogs hehehe :P Don’t tell him I said that, I don’t want him to think he is less worthy of my affection because of it. :D

Sam is another one of my loyal customer other than my hubby. But while my hubby is basically stuck with my cooking and has no other choice but to accept and eat it unless he wants to eat out (what is it they say? “80% of household accidents occur in the kitchen and men eat them.”), Sam does have a choice not to eat what I cook – or so it seems. I must insist this is true, because often when I offer him healthy stuff such as fruit, he will only sniff at them and then walk away. And he has never walked away from my cooked food, so that’s a pretty good sign, me thinks. :D

In this picture he is lying in his favourite spot: the small entrance to the kitchen, either waiting on us to finish our cooking to get a sneak-sniff of tonight’s menu, or waiting on us to finish cleaning up and gathering the leftovers for him to enjoy.
